The HDMI-EDID is an EDID emulator which can solve HDMI resolution problems between source and display. EDID information is normally provided by a display to tell a source device what capabilities the display has in terms of resolution, image size, colour capabilities and sound channels. In some installations this information can be lost such as when certain HDMI extenders or a HDMI splitters are used. Sometimes the display does not communicate the correct information and this can cause the source device to revert to a default mode which perhaps does not match the correct characteristics of the display, resulting in a lower resolution than the display is capable of.
This HDMI-EDID can resolve those problems as it is can emulate a display device and feed one of 16 different modes back to the source device. The source device will then produce the HDMI signal with the characteristics chosen according to the mode selected. The maximum cable length for both HDMI input and output cables is 5m.
